I spent the most of yesterday and today cleaning. (Shocking, isn’t it) It’s left me with one big question. How does one accumulate so much stuff in one year? At the beginning of term I thought that I wouldn’t need all the space they gave me to store everything but in the last few months I’ve resorted to using my mailbox as storage space. Before I came to Japan I reduced both my professional and personal life into three suitcases. After only one year, their contents have multiplied to the point where I think I need to consider birth control. Now that I’ve battled the worst of it, (it being the piles of paper, books, pens and paper clips that have worked their way into every possible crevice; it being the numerous empty coffee cups strewn across said papers and books, and it being the coffee rings from the coffee cups that miraculously managed to find the actual top of my desk) I can begin the work that is left before calling this first year of employment officially over. Submitting my grades for one and revising the CELE handbook for two.
