My Poor Pea

Wednesday mornings are usually so relaxed! I have myself a little bit of a sleep in and take my time making it to the university. Sometimes I even make a stop at the Buck's where I sit and sip my tea as the Pea socializes with the other bikes. Quite a nice morning for both the Pea and I. Today, however, I woke up early (an HOUR before my alarm! Shit, I hate that!) after sleeping rather badly (for the second night in a row). Not a particularly great way to start the morn...but it turned out well because it gave me time to call my girl Trish. (I miss you!) I gave myself 15 minutes to get to the office, pick up my books and head to class (which might sound like I'm cutting it close but it's actually ample time under normal circumstances to just make it). Today, however, was a different story. I sensed something was amiss as soon as I got on the Pea but being on a tight schedule I didn't have time to analyze. It soon became evident that the unnatural jolting motion couldn't be ignored. (Although I sort of enjoyed it) I had to face it: my poor Pea had a flat. So off I jumped and started pushing. Fuck. I wasn't even halfway to work yet - no mistaking it, I was going to be late. "Oh! Will I have time to get a Cafe Latte?" I fretted as the Pea struggled beside me in squeaky throws of pain. I began pushing double-time - the squeaking and thumping increasing. But in no time flat (excuse the pun) we were pulling (or pushing) into the parking lot. I ran by the vending machine, threw change at it, cought the bottle flung back at me, tore up the stairs, grabbed my books and ran to class where I arrived flustered, sweaty and bottle empty.
