I swear I wrote this list before I saw Karen's last blog entry. It seems as though she's always one step ahead of me, either that or we're sharing the same bandwidth. I wrote this on the train to my weekly Japanese lesson.
5. People standing and reading manga at the 7/11
4. Old women doing their groceries
3. Salarymen biking to work in their suits
2. Laundry hanging on the balconies
1. School children in their summer uniforms
Making this list got me to thinking about what my top five places would be for Canada - I've lived in four very unique cities: St.Catherines, Cornwall, Ottawa and Saint John so I've confined my list to these cities.
5. The Market (Saint John)
4. The riverside at the end of Jarvis (Cornwall)
3. The locks near Hog's Back (Ottawa)
2. The Niagara Peninsula near Brock U (St.Catherines)
1. The view of the Parliament Buildings in winter from the bridge near the Rideau Mall (Ottawa)
This may have to turn into a top 10 because I already have two more places to add to it. I shall revisit this list soon. I love Canada and at some point in the future I want to return to my home and live in it with as much gusto as I do here in Japan. This is perhaps the biggest lesson I'm going to take home with me.

That bridge overlooking Parliament is called the Mackenzie King Bridge.
What about the view of the St. Joes Parc in front of your old home on Gardener!!
Good bloggin...
ya see this is why i'd have to expand the list to ten...
i knew you'd come through with the name of the bridge. i just couldn't think of it.
how about the market in saint john? what was the name of that again?
this needs more thought...
The market in Saint John is called (oddly enough), the Saint John City Market!
The original one was called the Country Market. There were 4 markets in the area before the city consolidated them into 1, which opened in 1876. It is, as you know, the oldest continuing farmer's market in Canada.
