A Numbered List of Random Thoughts

1. Walking with an umbrella in Tokyo is equal parts annoyance and amusement.

2. Shopping in an electronics store in Japan is probably one of the most interesting experiences you can have. Beware of sensory overload. When I asked a clerk what floor the camera accessories were on, I repeated myself three times before he leaned to put his ear next to my lips, not unlike someone would do at a dance club. It was that loud.

3. I spend a lot of money at the Family Mart (a convenience store near my apartment). I take comfort in the fact that I'm not alone. Karen and I bought almost exactly the same breakfast this morning. What was that I said about sharing the same bandwidth?

4. I dropped 10,000 yen on some new clothes today and left the store thinking that they could of at least given me a bigger bag to carry them in. Funny how we're conditioned to think that bigger is better. Always looking for most bang for our buck.

5. I'm continuing to read Diet for a New America. Here's another quote that struck me:

...we now have for the first time in our history, sufficient knowledge to take control over our bodies and our lives. Now we can make food choices which we know will dramatically improve the health of our cardiovascular system, prevent heart disease and strokes, and at the same time reduce the suffering in the world.
