These are some of my favourite things...

tomatoes
garlic
spinach
Italian spices
ginger
soya sauce
konbu
sea salt
shiitake
avocado
pasta
rice
rice noodles
curry powder
yellow split peas
tofu
pinto beans
turmeric
cumin
quinoa
couscous
pumpkin
yuba
zucchini
miso
daikon

In some combination or other all of these things have been recently or will be soon on my plate. I think a lot about food. I talk a lot about food. I wish to know all of the vegetables in my local supermarket by name. I want to know how to prepare and cook them all. This is one thing I aim to do before leaving this country. There are so many Japanese vegetables at my disposal that I must take advantage of them while I can.

There is just so many things to accomplish before 2009!

(Hi Mom. Everyone please welcome the Vern to the group of Pea fans out there!)

Imagine putting all these things into one super HUGE container and cooking them on medium for 10-12 hours...you could have a massive amount of vegetable slurry to dish out :) or maybe just one big dirty pot to clean!

I don't subscribe to the Richard Deneault style of cooking ;)

and you know how I feel about dishes.

So I've been reading online about Japanese universities temporarily closing due to measles outbreaks. And a Japanese highschool group is being quarantined in Banff after one person in the group showed signs of measles... strange... You guys ok so far?

As I write this, I'm waiting to find out if I'll have to work tomorrow.

Several of the universities in this area have already been closed due to measle outbreaks.

We'll see if Asia U. joins the group.
